Death Conversation Cafe
Sunday 5 October 10am – 12pm
Death Conversation Café - facilitated by Satyaka
Death Conversation Café provides an intimate, safe space to talk about any matters to do with death and dying in a supportive, non-sectarian
setting; an opportunity to discuss death openly without expectations or a sense of coming to any conclusions. It is based on the principles of
Death Café, an initiative set up by psychotherapist Jon Underwood who was responding to a lack of opportunity to talk about
death in our culture.
What happens at Death Conversation Café? We gather, have tea and cake, introduce ourselves and talk about death (in a confidential environment). This may not give a sense of the breadth and depth of the conversations that take place – or of the extraordinary sense of intimacy, even relief, that many experience. Some people attend because they have recently been bereaved (though the café is not a grief counselling workshop). Some are curious; some are facing their own death or that of a loved one; others have a growing sense of unease and wish to address their fears of death. Talking about these fears can clarify and reduce them or even transform them.
This event is for over 18's only.
The MEBC operates on a Dāna Economy: Our Centre thrives only thanks to the spirit of dāna (generosity). We invite you to contribute what you can to help sustain our community and ensure that meditation, teachings, and retreats remain accessible to all. Your support, no matter the amount, plays a vital role in keeping the Centre vibrant and welcoming for everyone. Together, we can continue to flourish and offer the Dharma to all who seek it.
